The story so far
the maker.
Hi! I’m Lottie, founder, designer, maker, packer and general all-rounder at Pedal & Brass.
Pedal & Brass is the product of my love for creating, the rediscovery of cycling and a desire to make functional items that are super stylish.
the beginning.
As a lawyer for over 15 years, and a mum of three small children, for many years my creative side was limited to co-ordinating work outfits and overseeing the children's next junk modelling project! So 3 years ago I took a career break to spend more time managing the cardboard and sticky tape creations but also in the hope I could reawaken my own creativity and forge a career doing something different. I began making items out of waste leather from the footwear industry. Loving this creative outlet, I retrained to hand craft more complex items and at the same time rediscovered the joys of cycling. I was, however, frustrated by the lack of stylish and beautiful bike-compatible bags for my mini-adventures (usually to the shops, pub or a friend’s house!) and so…
...Pedal & Brass was born.

Founded to offer a range of beautiful, handcrafted leather bike bags that look as good on you as they are secure on a bike, there’s a Pedal & Brass bag for every outing.
From crossbody bags and totes, to boardroom bags and bucket bags, they are all designed and handcrafted by myself in my Cambridge workshop. Designed to clip on easily and securely to your bike using KLICKfix pannier hooks, these bags have the function and security of a leading pannier but are far too beautiful to be called panniers! Stylish and made to last, we’ll just call them Bike. Bags. Beautiful.
Waste Not
Whenever possible, the leather used is surplus stock from the footwear and leather industries - beautiful, but often destined for landfill. As a small company, we can buy small batches of surplus leather and therefore create both sustainable and exclusive bike bags. Keep your eye out for these limited editions across the range.
Our Waste Not range of accessories created from surplus leather from both our own bike bag production and that of the industry generally, means we continue to keep leather waste to a minimum.
